Bank charges, next step?

Hi, I'm new to this forum and wondered if anyone can help?
All the info I've googled about reclaiming bank charges is really old. I wrote to the bank to try and reclaim charges amounting to just over £4000. I got a call within a couple of days to say they have investigated it and I'm entitled to £300 as I was mis sold an account upgrade a couple of times etc (I'm sure he was trying to baffle me with !!!!!!!!!) I asked for this to be put in writing before I accepted anything.
So whilst I'm waiting for that, has anyone gone to the next step.. A more demanding letter? Court? Ombudsman?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The £300 you have been offered is all you will get. The Banks won their court case about unfair bank charges years ago.0
