JSA -Am I Still Due A Tax Refund?

In the tax year 2012-2013 I was made redundant in the first week of April (right at the beginning of the tax year) and claimed Job Seekers Allowance. I got a new job within a week so only received 4 days of payment. I believe that this totaled about £37.

When I started in the new job they messed up my tax code so I ended up paying too much tax. I received my tax calculation at the end of the year with a cheque for my overpayment.

However, on the tax calculation it lists my income as my salary and then on the next line £2766 of jobseekers and then works out my tax based on this. I believe that this amount of jobseekers would be a full year, so I assume they are not sure when my claim ended so have done the full tax year. I don't understand how the tax on jobseekers works. Are they actually taxing me for a full year for jobseekers and if so do I need to make a claim for a refund of this?

This happened to me last year (I realised one month before the end of tax year 2012 - 2013). Basically the jobcentre failed to notify the tax people how much I claimed and they guessed - when you tell them they give you a nice big rebate :)
