Success with halifax in backdating a default, 1 letter was all it took, started my DMP in and around the end of 2011 but they didnt default me until 2013, they are backdating to July 2012, they are also refunding all interest and charges, and giving me £75 compensation

However they will only refund the interest and charges to the account, despite it being closed and settled so I will be taking it to the fos as the settlement figure would have been substantially less had it have been refunded beforehand

Did they freeze interest charges on the account when you entered the DMP?

no they reduced interest and continued to charge for a long time after, eventually they did when it was passed to collections (the fake firm blair oliver and scott)

Was this for a credit card or overdraft?

I'm in same position. Went into DMP with an overdraft and cc with Halifax. Kept to my arrangement, never missed a payment but have default dates 12 months apart.

Want to get one back dated 12 months to match the other account.

I was 3 months in arrears when I entered DMP, file them showed AR markers for some months then started to go back to 1,2,3 til default.

The other account just defaulted. Inconsistent practice IMO.

It was a credit card, I just wrote to the address on the website and they phoned me pretty quick and agreed to change it, pay compensation and refund all interest and charges from when it should have defaulted,

Just arguing now that the latter should be paid to be and not just refunded to the account as the account has been settled and closed

    That was quick,

Halifax have overturned the decision and paying the charges and interest direct to me, and another £50 compensation for the hassle

Good result all round and very impressed with the customer service, although I think the ombudsman getting involved helped
