Removals quote

We are (hopefully, fingers crossed etc.) moving from the East Midlands to the North East. We've had a quote for removals of £2500 to include packing, insurance, and cancellation / change of date insurance. We have budgeted for £2000 so we're not that far wide of the mark but anyone with experience of a similar move and costs?
Thanks
Thanks

Did you get three quotes to see if they are reasonable?
We moved about 10 miles from a 3 bed semi, including packing our stuff, boxes and putting the boxes in the right room in our new 4-bed house. Also included taking apart and fitting back together large furniture, beds, wardrobes etc.
Insurance etc standard, and took all day including waiting at new house for the keys.
quotes ranged from £700-£900 and we went with the company we had a recommendation for, just wanted other quotes to make sure figures in the right ball-park.
Kept some of the boxes too, and they came a few weeks later to collect the ones we didn't want.0 -
Thanks, first quote we've had. Next one due next week. Just wondered how ballpark we might be for a 200 mile move.0

We used a BAR registered remover, and got all our three quotes through them. Very happy with all the quotes to be honest and like I say, not to far from each other in costs.
Think you are doing the right thing comparing a few.0 -
How big is your house? We are being quoted £1500-2500 for two bed first floor flat move from surrey to merseyside so yours seems on the pricier side unless it's a four bed detached...0

It's a four bed detached......although we think we're pretty minimal in terms of what we've got in it0 -
We paid £1500 for a BAR company - moving from a (very full!) 3 bed house, Surrey to Cornwall, but we did our own packing.
Well worth the cost - they were brilliant - calm, good humoured, with boundless energy and they did the move in one day.0 -
My parents recently moved from Kent to Lincolnshire (about 200 miles) and it cost them £1800. They packed their own boxes and the men loaded and unloaded. HTHI must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0

I wouldn't take BAR registered as a guarantee of decent service. I moved from Spain last year and was left with £1400 of damaged furniture with Movecorp claiming zero responsibility. Managed to get just £400 back from the insurance.
Go with a recommendation if you can, or at least photograph the condition of your stuff first and insure it well!0 -
I dont know the cost of that removal, but we used anyv@ns and got brilliant quotes compared to local big removal business's and they are approved by the company and have feedback's on the site!
Good luck finding a good deal!
