Any recommendations for an online conveyance for purchase and sale - we are on a budget so do not want hidden extras.

If you don't want hidden extras, don't use an online conveyancer.
Walk down your High street. Pop into 3 solicitors and ask to see a conveyancer for a quote. Get a written quote, based on your property, including free/leasehold, with/without mortgage (tell them which lender), which local authority etc.
You'll soon decide which one you feel most confident with, plus have a proper quote, plus save time/money by being able to pop in any time to sign things or ask questions.0 -

Get some quotes through Really Moving, I found mine through there (I won't name them because it's a bit early to tell how good they are, though I'm happy with the service so far).
Choose one who is Conveyancing Quality Scheme accredited (double-check that they really are, I had a quote from one that claimed to be but wasn't) and offers a fixed fee service. I managed to get no-sale-no-fee as well.
Yes there are some who will give you a poor service and add hidden charges, but I found these easy to identify and avoid. Just read the quote and the small print.
If I had gone with a local solicitor I'd be paying around £500 more for purchase-only.0 -
Beaumont Legal - great firm, we bought our house using them and they were brilliant, no sale, no fee too, we could contact them using email and calling them.
Found them via a search site - could have been really moving. But you can contact them on the website
We paid them £795 - well worth it0 -
We are currently using 1st property l@wyers and have had no issues whatsoever, they open til 8pm which is useful for us. They have an online system so you can see whats going on and when things are due. Would recommend having a scanner or knowing someone who does and a printer as you download paper work and scan documents back to them. Some still needs posting as they need originals! I also like that I can ring any day until 8pm and if my solicitor isnt there someone else will go onto the case file and answer my questions and update me, feel shared!
I imagine others wont have had good experiences so its not guarenteed!
What ever you decide good luck!

I used Beaumont Legal twice - they were good - although they forgot to take off a restrictive covenant when joint owner came off mortgage and transferred equity into my name.
I recently used Stephensons they were good also, and came with a insurance package covering mortgage, valuation and legal costs in case everything fell through.
If I was going to buy again, I would find someone local to home or work. Due to an inept developer - I spent a small fortune on Royal Mail Special Delivery sending documents everywhere.0 -
Thoroughly recommend Simply Conveyancing. Recommended by our estate agent because "we can always get hold of them, unlike local lawyers".
We had a couple of glitches early on which were quickly rectified (and apologies given) but it's been the easiest we've ever had. As much as is possible is done on line but, as mentioned higher up, a scanner is useful as some documents are sent to be filled in, scanned and emailed back. One named lawyer was assigned to us with their own number and, if she was not there, or busy, a voicemail message always brought a quick response. We were told when she was going on holiday and who to contact in the meantime. The rest of the team were equally reliable.
As an example, we emailed some queries one Sunday evening, not expecting them to be dealt with until the next day, and had a reply within 30 minutes!

We used Best Value Conveyancing and they were absolutely fine. It was a pretty straightforward sale so we just wanted the cheapest.0

Anyone used any of these on-line people for a leasehold purchase? One high street solicitor I've spoken to said that there can be problems with leases that require deeds of variation to put right, which will complicate matters and which on-line outfits won't necessarily be equipped to deal with. Am finding this all rather daunting! Thanks.0
