High winds forecast how can I propect my courgettes

My courgette plants are now very big and really getting going with fruit but now we are being told to expect strong winds over this weekend, any suggestions on how to protect them if the winds do come in strong.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Got any fruit netting? If so, peg it down over the top, reasonably tightly. However, even if you are on an exposed coast, I'd have thought the courgette plants would be reasonably OK. leaf damage at this time of year won't be terminal and I doubt the courgettes will take off!

  • We try 'staking' them in place with bamboo canes - a triangle of three around the plant, providing it's a more uprght one.

Strong winds are good. My allotment plot seems to collect everyones loose stuff.

4 waterbutts, Countless balls of netting and old compost bags of god knows what.

Shame nothing i need gets blown my way :)
