DLC Debt Collection - advice needed

Options
i had an old credit card with citibank when i was very ill about 7 years ago and got into great difficulty and the debt was passed to DLC - i came to an arrangement to pay it after very threatening calls and abusive staff - i just paid it and brush there attitude under the carpet as i couldnt deal with the hassle - 3 years ago i moved house and had a small amount left to pay and cancelled DD and never heard from them again until last year and and i made 1 payment of £20 and didnt pay anymore due to struggling with other debt - i never heard from them again until today when they called and spoke to my wife and they asked her to confirm my name , dob etc etc and told her who they were and what it was for

i got to the phone and said they had breached data protection by asking for info and saying what they were chasing me for and they said i had given them permission previously for her to speak to them which was when i was ill. but i cant remember

i told them to put it in writing and i wasnt prepared to talk on the phone about it

what would my next course of action be - pls help

Wait for them to write to you.

If they do I would send the prove it letter and ask them for proof you owe the money and proof they have a right to collect the debt.
You may also want to include in the letter a statement to say that all future communication should be in writing and not to telephone you.

Assuming they can provide proof then you could write either to offer a monthly repayment at a rate you can afford, or if you are ina position to do so you may wish to offer them a full & final settlement.

Letter when you know nothing about about the debt - AKA "Prove it"

Harassment by telephone - possible letter and citations

A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give
or "It costs nowt to be nice"
