Old virgin account help...

Hi there, ok so the quick history of this is I had an account with virgin way back in 2005, it was for a phone line and I wasn't happy with the service and argued it out with them and stopped paying. I thought I was being clever and was in so much debt back then anyway (minor debt) I wasn't overly bothered.

Anyway they stopped harassing me for money and I forgot all about it. It has sat on my credit report as satisfactory in green for as long as I've been checking it, with a balance of £200. The green 0 keep coming every month until this month is changed to a green U. Do you know what I can do to get this off my report? I'm scared it's all of a sudden going to turn into a default and I'm doing well clearing my report up at the moment :( it's been at least 7 years since I've heard anything from them I'm sure of it, shouldn't it have been removed by now?

Thanks all x

  • I have exactly the same only mine is for £240, from 2005. Should have dropped off by now.
Only showing on Equifax though, and is from an old address. I don't remember owing them anything, and have never had any correspondence of any kind since 2005.

    Watching with interest.

Interesting to know... Seems they just keep it
On there as "open" kinda thing so it doesn't drop off.. Seems a bit harsh.

They can't give you a default now if you stopped paying in 2005. I have the same issue, but have managed to dig out my default letter from them from 2006 so will be asking them to add that to my report. The debt should then completely drop off as it's statute barred.
