This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all,
Nice day here again off to work for me, yesterday was mad busy at work so hopefully today will be a bit quieter, its my 7th day on the trot at work so im feeling a bit tired !!
Tonight is going to be a takeaway as a Friday treat, and more than likely a bottle of plonk in front of the TV ( I know how to live
) will put a wash on ready to hang out in the morning.
Hugs to Lily hope you are bearing up xxxx
Have good days all xx

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Light cloud with sun trying to peek through. Greenhouse watered.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, he is going to pick DS1 up on his way past in a while.
Dinner last night was a naughty egg, bacon, sausage, hash browns, mushrooms, beans and bread/toast – haven’t had that for ages and was enjoyed by us all. Tonight will be an easy dinner of chicken and bacon kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk and I’ll have omelette and salad or jacket potato with tuna mayo and salad not sure yet which I fancy.
I got all the ironing done, so packing is done too. I also managed to get the hoover shoved round. Today I have all the normal Friday jobs to do and had planned to do some baking this afternoon so we’d got some HM treats – but I’m going to a funeral on DH’s behalf as he is unable to attend. I may get time to do something when I get back – depends on what time that is.
I’ll be heading off shortly – I need to go to the bank, and then on to food shopping.
Have a great Friday everyone x
Take care in the sun and warm weather, remember the sunscreen x
Keep safe and well x

Morning :hello:
I walked out to the washing line, hung the clothes and walked back in. Without limping. Also tied my trainers without having to use my hands to lift my foot onto the chair first AND I could reach my foot without having to tilt myself sideways. Thrilled doesn't even begin to cover it
I was tired by teatime so had an early shower then crocheted myself a bag. I miscounted the stitches when I made the back but didn't want to undo it so I got creative when I stitched the two sides together and merged a few stitchesI still need to make a lining and attach the strap.
Shopping this morning, then I'm going to attempt a short walk along the river. I wanted to go alongside the canal, which is just down the road. But mr tru was out last night and saw a tall ship on the river. He thought it looked familiar so wandered over, it's one that's usually in the harbour in Charlestown – I can't believe he recognised it! It's making it's way to the docks in the next couple of days. So I decided on the river instead, it'll be nice to see a bit of Cornwall in Glos

Good morning everyone
Later one for me today as I am at the hospital for pre-op so that will take pretty much all day. DD and DH are at chiropractors too, so I am being dropped off then collected later from hospital.
Weather looks like being dire this weekend so making a job list, already have decluttering and ebay listing but it's going to get much longer than that.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Morning all
Tru- great newswell done :T
Ttftm- good luck x
I got a call yesterday from my cousin to say her mum had passed away. She's been ill with cancer for a while and I had rung her DD 3 days before to see how she was and so I knew it was near. I hadn't seen my aunt since mums funeral 3 years ago, but rang her twice a year at Christmas and midsummer. She had a breakdown about 45 years ago and never fully recovered so didn't say much on the phone, but I knew mum would be pleased that I kept in touch.
My cousin was a bit unsure about asking me to tell my family because she knows I don't speak to them, but I told her not to worry about that. I texted my dad and ofc straight away her rang back trying to show an interest in my family and saying it would be nice to see us. I wrote a short note saying I will text the funeral details but other than that I don't want to know. It felt a bit harsh but when I think of how awful he was after mum died, and the amount of time (and money) I've spent on counselling since I know it's right. Just the thought of seeing him makes me feel ill to the point that if he goes to the funeral then I won't. It's sad as I'm the only one who did stay in touch with my aunt.
Right, enough about that! I'm going to try and have a clear out today, room by room. I have a box of cables downstairs that I haven't used for 2 years and don't know what they're for so I reckon they can go. Also need to go through bedroom drawers - anyone else have tons of knick knacks that get shoved away for eternity?
Not sure whats for dinner but we have lots of eggs so probably omelettes!
Have a good day all hugs to those in need x0 -
Morning all
TTFM, hope it goes well.
I had my day planned out, Dr's, PO, tidying & shopping this morning, cooking & food prep this afternoon, but hubby has scuppered those, not his fault though. He's run out of paint at work & so muggins here has to bash over to the other side of town to get some & I'll have to wait while they do a colour match. I still have to fit in my jobs as well.
Pub quiz last night, we didn't win, partly because someone insisted Hogmanay was on Jan 2nd & partly because 2 other teams were using their phones to Google the answers, lol. It was still a good night & it was lovely to spend time with DD.
Time I made a start on today's jobs.
Have a good day everyone.

Tru Great news.

Got to the bottom of Mount Washmore yesterday as the weather was brilliant for pegging out. Looks not so good today!
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Hi everyone,
Happy birthday Molly. I hope the surgery goes well, TTFtM. I hate that Hester, I once did a quiz with some friends of friends who were googling all the time, even when I told them the answers they insisted on checking (cue amazement that I was right!).
I've lots to do today. I'm on my 5th load of washing since I arrived because all the beds, plus camp beds were in use last week. Then I want to go round all the woodwork and vacuum. DH is coming up by train with DD, bf and 4 of their friends so all the washing I've done will have to be repeated when they go. I shall let them fend for themselves as far as food goes though.
It won't be all work though, I shall go into Settle, they have some very quirky charity shops there and a quilting shop - it will be nice to potter without anyone with me.
Have a good day.0 -
