basic bank account, report to CRA?

Hey all,
As some of you know I am in a position of having Zero Credit History at all, Nada, not a bean.
Finally found I am now registered on the electoral roll so going to get out there and get a basic bank account and get some history, got all my ID and documents ready and waiting, utility bills and passport plus driving licence.
My intention is to get a basic bank account, build up some history then go get a Contract phone in say 6 months. Would you say that is a reasonable time scale?
Main question is this, what basic bank accounts report to the cra's? My mum has a bill easy cash account with Halifax and doesn't report to them, but yet my old housemate had a HSBC one which did. Any suggestions as I'd like the good marks being registered.
Cheers all

Most basic ones report a series of green OK marks or £0 balances indicating for example that "the account is in credit; the account is not overdrawn; the account is being managed within the terms of your agreement".
I know for certain that Barclays and Nationwide basic accounts report.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
