Argos "discontinued" furniture

Has anyone else recently had a furniture order with Argos cancelled due to the items ordered being "discontinued"?
I placed an order for some furniture that was on sale whilst there was the 'Spend £400 get £100 off' promotional offer.
I waited over 6 weeks for the order only to be told the items had been discontinued. I was given the option to order something else or take a refund. As there was nothing else I liked, I opted for a refund. I was told I would be refunded the money I had paid and would be sent a voucher for the promotional amount. I was happy with this...
...until I went on the website 4 days later to find they were selling these 'discontinued' items again under a new name and back up at the full retail price.
Long story short...after many phone calls and emails, Argos agreed to honour the sale price. Thinking I had a voucher on the way for the promotional offer, meaning my original price was being met, I agreed and paid up the price of the items without the promotional discount.
Flash forward 2 weeks (8 weeks from the date of the original order) and I phone the helpline to find out where this voucher is. I am told there will be no voucher, and (in so many words) I was fortunate they sold me the items at the sale price.
To summarise; Argos took my money for an order for furniture (minus sale discount and promotion discount), told me the items had been discontinued and cancelled my order, re marketed the items with a new name and higher price and are now refusing to honour the initial price.
Anyone else had an experience like this?

It may be the same( or near as damn it) furniture, but they may have changed supplier to get it made and the prices have gone up to them.
One of my manufacturers I deal with has just changed supplier to another one. The product is exactly the same, made to the same specs, but the price has gone up by 15%. The new supplier based in the same region of China, has refused to match the price, said like it or lump it.
This is the problem with Chinese built product, which most likely the furniture you want is made. The Chinese have us over a barrel, you change anything at all and the price goes up. We don't have the skills and facilities to make stuff anymore. Eastern Europe is now coming on stream more, but they will be as bad.
IMO this is what may have happened, it is quite common. They seem to be offering you more than they needed to do, they could have just refunded you and you start afresh with your purchase, with no goodwill.0
