Tesco Internet Saver - Credit Check?

Hi lovely MSE people, this may be a stupid question but do Tesco do a credit check when you open an internet saver account? I'm asking out of obsessive mortgage paranoia - I have my mortgage offer but yet to complete so I don't want to risk ANYTHING popping up on my credit file before the mortgage has all gone through in case Halifax change their mind about letting me buy a house.
I can't see why a credit check would be needed for a savings account but you never know... I'm hoping someone will know the answer (and hopefully reassure me that there may be an identity check but not actual credit check which is what I'm hoping!)
Thanks

There will be an identity check, but no credit check.
After all, they are not assessing whether you might pay back any amount loaned to you, because savings accounts do not have the facility to offer credit.0 -
I didn't even get an identity check (although that's just based on information from Noddle) when I recently opened an account.0

Brilliant, thank you so much for the super speedy response. That's the answer I was hoping for but I just had to check to put my mortgage anxiety to rest!!
Thanks!0 -
I'd still be tempted to wait until after completion. Do you NEED the account now, or can it wait?
To me, it's not worth jeopardising!0 -
I think banks have some sort of internal system within all banks to see if a person can get an account.
because i found it hard getting a basic bank account with any bank, i sent a data request to cifas and they had no records, and also no records on my credit file.
But i think banks needs be clear if they have some sort of internal system that they share information.0 -
They probably used Experian or Equifax to do the ID check.
This would not show on Noddle as it's linked to Callcredit.I didn't even get an identity check (although that's just based on information from Noddle) when I recently opened an account. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It's an interesting point. I'm actually rather surprised by the amount of information that does show up in Noddle. For example, identity checks from two different sharedealing accounts I've opened in recent times. Credit checks for all of the current accounts I've opened recently are listed, but my assumption is that full search information is shared between the agencies, but that ID checks would not be?They probably used Experian or Equifax to do the ID check.
