I don't think anyone is saying Debenhams has done anything wrong or even that the customer service was poor. But they could have helped the customer achieve the result they wanted at no cost to them (assuming OP does indeed return the item for a refund). So in that sense the customer service could have been better without them having to suffer a loss or make a compromise.

Yes, I did try and explain that to Daytona0, but he appears to have missed it.

Order a new one delivered to store again and when you collect it, return the first one at the same time!
