apologies - would think this is a common question but I cant find the answer!!
I was made redundant in March and am now theoretically on maternity leave (all smp paid up front when made redundant).
I have applied for tax credits and now received forms - but of course they refer to 2013-2014 incomes. As soon as I fill these in we do not qualify for tax credits - however our income for this tax year is reduced by 10k and I think we could be eligible. How do we proceed??
Thanks

This is what happened to me. I realised that my income last year was over the threshold so included a cover letter with my claim in which I detailed my estimated income for 2014/15 which duie to redundancy was at least £20k less than that of 2013/14 however I still got an award letter a month or more ago informing me that I was entitled to nothing based on 2013/14 income - even though by my calculation my estimated income this year was well under the threshold. Presumably no one looked at my letter?! So is it worth ringing up to query this now or do I wait until the end of the tax year when I'm sure about what my 2014/15 has been?0
