Vax Hoover - refusal to repair.

Hello,
My partner purchased a Vax hoover via Argos on Oct 31st last year. The hoover has recently stopped working. I contacted Vax who are refusing to do anything without a serial number (having looked on the hoover, there is definitely not one there!). They have simply told us to contact Argos again.
Are they obliged to fix the hoover regardless of the lack of a serial number?
Thanks for any advice

The retailer are responsible for it, have you spoken to them about it ?0

I find it quite strange that there's no serial number. Is there a sticker anywhere that shows the model number (usually behind the dust bin)? Is there an empty space where it looks like one should go?
If you still have the manual, you might find something on thereSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Argos do tend to be better than some at dealing with stuff like this. Take the Vax back to the store with the receipt and speak to a CS person.Never Knowingly Understood.

May I just enquire if you have cleaned all the filters. This happened to me some time back. Whe I phoned their cs they advised me to do this anf the machine started working. I make a point of doing this monthly now.0
