Thinking of applying for a 95% htb mortgage with Halifax, likely we will use broker.
I have a clean credit history no late payments and settled closed accounts, no defaults ccjs etc.
Unfortunately my husband has 2 defaults, one from 2010 for £75 (phone bill, paid in full and satisfied) the second one is from 2009 for £650 for overdraft (also paid in full and satisfied).
Has run his current account clean from then on.
Both on electoral roll.
Do we stand a chance in being accepted?
Has any one dealt with clients in our position r gone through an application with similar circumstances.
Many thanks

I think this is more a case of who will accept you rather than you choosing who you want (I have no idea to word that in a nicer way - I dont mean it to be rude).
There will be lenders but whether halifax is one of them im not sure.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. We were in similar situation, husband had clean credit I had 2 defaults, mobile phone bills, both settled that went back about 5.5 years at the time and 10% deposit we were rejected by 2 companies, had to wait until 6 years from default, so off credit history, and needed 15% deposit in order to be accepted! and this was just prior to the stricter rules that came in at end of April.0

I would bet my bottom dollar that Halifax will say no.
I'm fairly sure there will be other options though - get your credit reports in front of a broker.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
