Barclays keep offering me a god damn CREDIT CARD

Well i have one credit card (HSBC) use it all the time i burn the money on it and pay it back on time (had one late payment though...)

Anyway, i bank with barclays i have around 2 pound in the account... haven't logged in for 3 years and logged in recently... it used to say 'Cash Card Account' now it says 'Barclays Bank Account'

I've been getting letters from them saying i am guaranteed a barclays card credit card they send them like 4 times a week.... so what is this? they know i have a HSBC credit card or something???

Any info would be great!

It's called marketing.

Ask to be taken off their mailing list if it offends you.

The bank is likely to know far more about this than random people on here.

If it makes you feel any better Barclays are likely to be basing their marketing on the fact that you have a current account with them rather than the fact that you have a credit card with someone else....

I'm not on any 'list' i never gt any letters like this from them.

I don't have a Barclaycard, nor a Barclays account, yet still get mail from them every month. They definitely seem one of the most persistent. Must've ticked the wrong box online at some point!

Lenders can't see who your accounts are with so Barclays don't know that you've got an HSBC credit card. They're just doing a marketing drive and you fit the profile, no doubt along with thousands of other people. If it bothers you just give them a call and opt out of marketing letters.

They can't see who the card is with but they can see you have a credit card. That's my point. Barclays probably see the current account not being used (costing them money) so would like a credit card taken out which could spur some current account activity.

if you use your current one all the time then it may be sensible to get a second one in case you lose/get blocked etc

My sister and I (both in our 20s) used to get letters telling us about Barclaycards often. Neither of us have an account with them. I never got quite as upset as you seem to be - just file them straight in the bin.
Now we're no longer on the edited electoral register we don't hear from them so, for some, it could be as simple as that to get rid of.
