Ebay want seller's opinions

On the business sellers discussion boards on Ebay, there is a message saying that Ebay want to get sellers opinions on Ebay updates, and asking them to have a telephone chat to discuss.

If Ebay are reading the boards, they already know most sellers opnions of the upcoming changes. Could this be a "get out" move so that they can ditch the whole defects thing and say they have listened ?

I think there is only one seller on the Powerseller boards who isn't angry at eBay

I think they are just paying lip service so they can say they gave us a right of reply....then ignore it!

Look on the bright side, there going to be a lot of big international sellers drop off on 20th August assuming they will loose the rating by region just like we have a rating by region in Europe.

Does that mean all the Chinese listings will disappear ? I've noticed in searches recently that the majority of items are in the USA, so hopefully they will go too.

I wouldn't go quite that far. But on the assumption that international sellers are facing the same scrutiny and as I said above that it will work across regions as it does in Europe.


Have you seen how badly rated some far east sellers are? Partly due to the long distance wait, but shoddy goods as well, I've seen sellers churning out thousands of items and nearly 5 people in 100 pea-d off enough to leave negative feedback, that's plus all the ones that don't bother and the neutrals.

This is one of my major problems with the defect system. The big sellers can have loads of negatives and defects, but due to the amount they sell, their accounts are safe, whereas I only have to get 8 defects in 12 months, I am in big trouble.

Nor mine , my last survey hit me on a bad day and I left a low score for 'advising a friend or colleague to use eBay' and gave the reason that they can no longer be safe even if they follow the rules as eBay don't even understand the rules anymore.

I did give a better score for the question would I continue to use eBay, but again gave the reason I might as well carry on until I too eventually get banned due to their daft rule changes that mean one thing one day, and something opposite the next.
