Barclays Branches with no cashiers

Just reading of Barclays plans to turn some branches in to machine only branches. If I wanted to withdraw more than the daily limit ie a lump sum, how could I do it without a cashier?

You can't. - You would have to visit another branch.

Presently you'd assume you cant but perhaps they intend to adjust things to reflect this issue?

May be worth throwing the question over to them as inevitably even the best Business Analyst and Change Manager doesnt think of every possible issue/ customer concern etc
  • I tweeted Barclays this morning and got this reply "we’ll always have staff in branch to help with queries like this." To their credit they did reply quickly to my query.

I like the idea of this, provided the branches are then open 24/7.

In France, where banks are open very short hours, this is the case. Half of the branch shuts early afternoon with shutters and locks, but half remains open 24 hours with machines for paying in and withdrawing cash. It's a fantastic system really, as it meant I could pay in cash despite working 9-5.

They'll may allow you up your ATM limit for the transaction or direct you to a Post Office.

I agree, the Nationwide branch on George Street in Edinburgh that I used to use did this. However, I very much doubt whether Barclay's would have a member of staff on duty 24/7 so it wouldn't hep the OP.

They are self-service machines not ATMs.

One of the newspaper articles mentioned that the machines let you deposit up to £4,000 and withdraw up to £750. Although, it didn't mention whether this was because the machine can only handle that much in one transaction or whether it was a daily limit.

From other posters who have used the trial branches they apparently do have at least 1 counter to used for larger transactions.
