I merely abbreviated your 'Capital One Classic Extra', nd. It wasn't COGE.
Thankyou for your full explanation - also note accord on elements of education/upbringing;).
I check all receipts, relish maths, scrutinise bills nastily, have irregular, sometimes lengthy absences and am subject to cabin fever: all in all, I prefer to pay ahead and feel beholden to nobody. I don't give anyone carte blanche to take money from my a/c's without my 'nod'. Credit cards are not for me.

Well, IIRC many airlines, including BA, do charge extra for CCs.
And many people like buying package holidays.
Many airlines don't. BA has the highest charge that I have seen.
But it's ok for me, to pay an extra few Pounds for the increased protection.
If someone is happy to use their Debit card, they can do so.
I'm not and I don't.0 -
I can't comment for London Airways but most airlines I use don't charge extra for credit cards.
When booking with 3rd party websites, they usually offer cashback of a few percent which more or less offsets the credit card charge.
Booking with a credit card makes the issuer jointly liable for the flights etc. Buying last minute replacement flights can be expensive.
Debit card chargeback only covers the original sum paid.NiftyDigits wrote: »Many airlines don't. BA has the highest charge that I have seen.

I'm not sure as to why you are quoting my post. I'm pro-CC.0 -

The Capital One Classic Extra is not a suggestion for you. It was for the OP who may have a problem in obtaining a CC.
I certainly would not use it for ATM withdrawals.
It's not unusual for two of my cards, annually, to be blocked and re-issued for attempted fraud.
Using a CC protects my funds.
You may not be a Luddite, but your rejection of a credit card is based on out-moded thinking.
You could just as easily pay by CC and then cover the bill immediately.
So you won't owe anybody anything, but you will have the added protection that the CC affords you.
If it wasn't for credit cards, I would be a lot more circumspect about shopping online. I would certainly have a segregated account or would use a Prepaid card.
Using a CC takes all of that concern away.
I make my life as simple as possible, so that I can use my energy for more rewarding things.0 -
Quoting doesn't always have to be negative

I concur with your view and added my perspective for the OP.
Grumbler was talking about credit card v debit card on a cost basis alone. A valid position to take, even If I don't agree with it.NiftyDigits wrote: »I'm not sure as to why you are quoting my post.
