Car reversed into me at junction -fault?

Last week a car reversed onto me. I was at an unmarked t junction which runs into a dead end. I stopped at the junction whilst the other car drove past and into the dead end (to my right). I then pulled out to turn left onto the road the other car was on (he was now stopped in the dead end). As I pulled out I saw his reverse lights went on. I stopped however he kept moving and went into the front drivers side of my car above the wheel. He got out and admitted it was his fault, he hadn't looked and offered to pay and that he didn't want to go through the insurance if he could avoid it. Took his number and license plate. Few days later had a quote for £180 and in the end it was decided he would pay £100 to avoid insurance. He has not put this in my bank and it has three days now despite telling me he'll do it tonight, tomorrow, by 9pm!
Should I contact him and tell him I'm going through insurance since he hasn't paid? Will his insurance deny liability for this? I don't want my insurance to go up so is it worth putting a claim in and running this risk? Also I imagine his excess would be more than this so he would have to pay anyway and could be back at square one?
Advice appreciated

Contact them and say your putting it through the insurance at 9am or 5pm.
Giving them overnight of most of a day to pay you.
He wont pay the excess for your claim only if he claims for damage to his car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
If the damage to your car was £180 why is he only paying £100 when he admitted fault? and you are doing him a favour by not going through the insurance?
Anyhow I would give him a time limit to pay and make him aware that after that time limit you will go through the insurance.0 -
Ask for his insurance details then contact his insurer and claim off them.
If he refuses to tell you, use askmid to find his details (free if you use a smartphone)
You should be reimbursed in full! Don't agree to this offer of £100!0 -
More often than not your premiums will rise, even if it's a no-fault claim where the insurance company recover their losses. For £180, I'd probably fix it myself to be honest, but depends if you have a spare £180 lying around!0
