Payments reflecting on credit report

I've had some longish standing credit card amounts which have recently been paid off as a lump sum, bringing their totals back down to zero. However, I've been told that this can take time to reflect on my credit report. I didn't know this, and am applying for a mortgage - eek - so, does anyone know how long it can take to show up and if there's anything I can do to either speed it up or offer up to the mortgage company to show that these accounts are now at zero?

I otherwise have a decent "score", but I've read that this can mean nothing.

Usually around 4-6 weeks, nothing you can do to speed it up, lenders send updates monthly to the CRA's.

Mortgage lenders will often accept other proof that debts have been repaid.
In fact they will often ask for evidence of up to date balances on all accounts, as obviously they are aware of the time delay to what is showing on a credit file.

  • Thank you both. I'll try and get them to accept my up-to-date downloaded statements. I need to get this show on the road!
