Car Insurance - One Call Insurance

Options
Hi All,

I've had a look around the forums and One Call Insurance seems to have a bad reputation, however all the reviews seem to be years old.

Has anybody been with them recently? Are they still a company to avoid?

I'm 26, looking for car insurance and One Call is by far the cheapest followed by the companies below. If One Call should still be avoided, are the companies below acceptable?

Swinton Insurance (I'll stop here as I think Swinton would be OK).

Thanks

they are brokers, quite small also
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

All of those that you list are brokers.

Swintons are the ones I would never touch personally. The rest may have some sharp practices but as long as you play everything with a straight bat. Do what they ask of you promptly etc then you should be ok.

we are with one call my wife's convertible Audi was hit by an off road R/V so we called one call who have done nothing at all !!!!!!they want to put up our excess from 150 to 350 because we want to use a garage that is close to our home unlike the one they want us to use 30mins away and then because our garage is more expensive than there's want me to pay the difference 642 so if I want to use a garage that comes recommended by family it will cost me 992 don't do it !!!!!!

It is increasingly common for insurers to have additional excess for going outside of their preferred network of repairs. Unsurprisingly by pushing volume through their networks they get bigger discounts and so they are keen to encourage you to use them

If you want to use your own garage then either go for a company that has them on their network or chose a company that doesnt have non-network excess but you may well have to pay more premiums for it.

Of cause if it is a non-fault claim then either you could claim directly from the TP rather than from your insurance thus avoiding any excess. Alternatively if you do want to claim off your insurance then any excess etc can be recovered from the TP though you may have issues proving you mitigated your losses by going to a more expensive garage
  • It's probably too late to stop you using them but don't. They are a nightmare!
They have cancelled my mum's insurance but my mum only found out from the dvla as they had the wrong address and car registration details. They have taken 2 months cover payment but provided no cover and said my mum will receive her refund once they receive it from the insurer, two months later still no refund. Utter nonsense.
