Hi
My sister has sent me some money from the US. All her bank asked her for (Bank of America) was my IBAN. Nothing else. Speaking to Halifax online helpdesk the man stated they should have asked her for the Bic/Swift code as well.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Wondering if I am actually going to get the money.
Thanks

Get your sister to get her bank to trace the funds although they may not do this for at least 5 days in case the funds turn up.
I would have thought they would have needed the SWIFT/BIC code as well as your bank sort code and account number.
I don't think US banks use IBAN's.0 -
Ok. I am wondering is though if the US bank needed a swift/bic code surely they would have asked for it? My sister was telling me the IBANcame up as Bank of Scotland even though I am with the Halifax.0

HBOS ring any bells? Halifax Bank of Scotland - I am guessing they use BoS to process back office payments for Halifax.Ok. US Banks deal in dollars in USA anything outside this and they need to be spoon fed.
Start to panic if the funds have been sent more than 5 working days ago.0 -
