Please advise on how to position ladder to fix roof gutter.

I am a novice at this. We have a bowed gutter and I want to go up to see if it's just dirty or if I need to add a support to straighten it. However, I do not know how to position the ladder so that it does not lean on the gutter, potentially causing damage. I enclose a picture .. its not our house, but just like ours in how the roof sticks out. Can anyone help please?

never lean ur ladder against the gutters.
you need to invest in a ladder stay that will hook on to the top of ur ladder and allow u to get at your gutters.
see this link for a pic ;0)

thanks. its exactly what I need. Never thought it existed!0

That's the one I have. I think the roof overhang might be too large to use this to allow the ladder to project above the gutter. Please check this point before buying one.0

Yes ladder standoff are good used one myself before that I borrowed from my neighbour who was a decorator. I would like to buy one myself as I now got a ladder but a bit skint at present, oh well
Standoffs are the best as its recommend not to have ladders resting on gutters anyhow
BTW B&Q sell them about £40-£50 thats about the price they are unfortunately0 -
