What a Nightmare , ordered x2 monitors for my business that would take x2 laptops on one screen..
Not happy with them at all so have asked to return them and order a different model.
Debenhams Plus have informed me that Distant selling regulations do not apply to Commercial Businesses -nearly fell of my chair
Is this correct ?

The full name is:The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000
Note the word Consumer.
However they have been superceded by:Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulation 2013.
Still with that word Consumer in there.0 -

As someone who owns a business, this really is something you should investigate before purchase. 'Protection' for business to business contracts like this has always been far far lower than for consumers.0 -
Is there something wrong with them, or are they just not what you want?0

Did you pay with a personal or business credit card? If the former then you should be able to return them still, as they are your personal possession until you reclaim from the business.0

Unless you have entered in to the purchase as a business (i.e. Debenhams knew they were transacting with a limited company and the terms and conditions of the sale are as such)0 -
Thanks All for the quick response
The problem with them is that when you plug both laptops in the display is really squashed up , also if one laptop cannot produce the required resolution there is an error message that is really hard to close down...
Bought them with a company debit card
I think in the future I will purchase things personally on a credit card and put an expense claim form in to ensure I retain full consumer rights.0 -
Sounds to me like you haven't quite got the display output from the laptop figured out correctly yet. There may not be any issue at all with the monitors once you've done that.0

^^ This. What make/model of monitor and what laptops are you using. Also, what type of connection, eg, VGA, HDMI, DVI, displayport etc?Sounds to me like you haven't quite got the display output from the laptop figured out correctly yet. Guys - an update
I managed to get a refund on the monitors - they insisted there is nothing wrong with them however I contacted the CEO P.A to complain about the tactics deployed by these guys at the Buyitdirect group and also pointed out that the Terms and conditions were out of date as they still quoted the old legislation.
Massive lesson learnt here - from now on anything to do with my business distant selling wise I will purchase personally and claim it back0
