Having work done on house and after removing sheets etc, noticed a tub of waterproof PVA glue has been lying on its side leaking prob for a couple of weeks and hardened in places. Trying to remove with cloth and steam iron and blade but very slow and hard going, is there anything else I can try. Trust it to be right in the middle of a long hallway. Advice would be appreciated, thanks

Look on the tin for the manufacturers details & give them a ring or email them.
If you are not careful you might make things worse by using the wrong method to remove the glue.

Rang Bostik and more or less what I'm doing is correct, with it being waterproof nothing is going to have much effect. A steamer, high heat will soften it and scrape it off. If it had been a brand new carpet I would be more cautious trying to remove it, but I'll just give it a good go with a steamer, I have a garment steamer I'll give it a try with that. If you are unsuccessful in removing the glue, then consider a nice decorative runner or rug to cover up the mark.
That would be a lot cheaper than replacing the whole carpet.
Alternatively, check your home insurance and see if this type of accidental damage is covered.
It might be worth claiming if it doesn't put your future premiums up too much.0
