New LCDtv installed-problems

Hope someone can help me with this:
Installed Sony Bravia LCD ,HD TV, alongside my DVD recorder and PS2.
Problem is I cannot access any channel 3/4 programmes via digital. I was told by Sony that my ariel would need adjusting but I have read on this board how unethical these ariel installers can be and vastly overcharge for things you may not even need so I am vary wary about going down this route. Is there any piece of equipment I can purchase to help rectify this, other than this I am very happy with the Bravia. Oh and why would I need a HDMI cable?
Thanks to all who can help.

a simple aerial amplifier from Argo or Maplin may cure the problems, gives me a full range of channels in a weak signal area

  • You would only need a HDMI cable if you a bit of equipment that has a HDMI port, such as PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 Elite and Halo 3 edition, DVD player/recorder etc.

Having spent a few hundred pounds on a DTT capable TV it must be worth looking into an aerial upgrade, otherwise you aren't going to view any wide-screen broadcasts, unless you have Sky of course.
Best bet is to see if anyone can recommend a reliable aerial installer in the Leicester area, or maybe ask a neighbour who is displaying a nice shiny new aerial, the ones used for free view are usually distinguishable by their X shaped elements and large fire screen reflectors.

RELIABLE AERIAL INSTALLER IN LEICESTER PLEASE!
That gum you like is coming back in style.
