We have 1 child and are trying for a second. Can the NHS help?

Why have you posted the same questions again when you had the answers last time?

The link provided in your previous thread shows that Wolverhampton, like your previous CCG, only fund one cycle. As you have already been funded for one cycle then that is the end of NHS treatment. I've never heard of a CCG 'ignoring' treatment received from another. This makes sense as otherwise a patient could keep moving in order to receive further cycles of treatment which they otherwise would not have received. It's a shame, because the NICE guidelines do recommend that three cycles be offered, but this, along with other recommendations, are generally ignored by the CCGs.

I didn't receive any funding at all because my CCG decided to implement an upper age limit below that recommended and so we had to pay every penny ourselves.

The following site has a list of what every CCG offers:
    http://www.infertilitynetworkuk.com/niac_2/ccg_details

I do know of people who have moved to a new area in order to get more cycles (i.e. moved out of an area that only offers one).

Yes, it is possible to move from an area that only offers one cycle to an area that offers 2 or 3, or treatments that weren't available in the original area. They would still take into account previous cycles undertaken, so the maximum cycles would still be limited to 3. I've never heard of anyone managing to receive more than this. Unless the OP is prepared to move again then it looks as though he will have to self-fund.

Moving from an area that offers one cycle to another area that offers one cycle won't get you two cycles (in most cases, I'm sure there's the odd one or two that have managed to bypass this somehow).

If the rules applied per CCG we'd all be moving house to get endless funded cycles. It doesn't make any sense to think that a CCG will disregard previously funded cycles.

Exactly - sorry - I wasn't clear in my post. Previous cycles will still be counted of course. I know people who have moved area to get additional cycles, up to the maximum.

Please can someone post the actual reference to this from Wolverhampton or NICE.

    http://www.wolverhamptonccg.nhs.uk/publications/cat_view/164-publications/165-commissioning-policies

    Download the assisted conception policy.

In the PDF, go to page 11.
Couples who have undergone any previous IVF [ICSI] cycles, either NHS or privately funded will be ineligible for further NHS funding.

    Repeated again on page 13.

My apologies for posting this again.

But I just couldn’t find the actual section either in the NICE guidelines or NHS Wolverhampton CCG where it states that ‘if you have already had treatment in one CCG you won’t be entitled to receive treatment in another CCG’

I have not moved just to receive ‘free’ treatment as the whole move has costs the same as IVF.

Please can someone post the actual reference to this from Wolverhampton or NICE.

    Thank You

Don't bother looking at the NICE guidelines as that is all they are - CCGs don't have to, and usually don't, abide by them as they are not legally forced to.
