Hi there,
I am newly single parent working 21 hours a week. Have completed the online questions of whether I can claim tax credits but it doesn't seem to ask me the correct questions - or I have a complicated life ;-)
I own a flat which I rent out to no gain but have to pay an additional £200 pcm on maintaining (hopefully will sell soon) and I rent a flat for me and my daughter.
Is there an organisation who would help me look into whether I am actually able to claim anything out there as I can't seem to find the information online.
Thank you in advance

Even if you rent it out for no gain (or a loss) you should be completing a tax return declaring it. You then declare this taxable profit/loss for tax credit purposes (Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credits). Housing benefit/Council tax reduction and other benefits may treat it differently.

it is the interest onlu that is disregarded ... not the full mortgage payment.
if you are renting the property out for more than the interest payment, it will have to be declared to HMRC.
otherwise you would be claiming benefit and someone else would be paying for your asset
