What evidence do I need of my pay for tax credits?

Hi everyone,
I am new to TC and claiming benefit so please bear with me!
I have been informed by my employer that my post is to be deleted and that I am to be 'matched' to a new post (at a lower grade), so I have checked the tax credits website, and I will now be entitled to help.
My question is: what evidence do I need to provide TC's of my new income? Will my new contract of employment be sufficient to start the claim? or will I need to provide my wage slips and wait 3 months to apply? Its all so confusing!
I wont be in post until April 2015, so I will have time to get things together!
