Cant GIVE the stuff away

I have a couple of wardrobes spare, as they are a bit old and creaky, but still useable enough. There is a charity around here called SOFA which recycles furniture and passes it on to people in need. I phoned them today and they can't take my wardrobes as the City council has stopped giving them financial support! and i live in the city. They only receive funds from the county council now !!! I cant take them myself as i dont drive amd would need a van anyway. The council are shooting themselves in the foot because if people have their homes furnished properly surely they are happier and less likely to get into debt trying to buy tat from mfi.
Stingy damn council. if i find out which party instigated this clever decision they are not getting my vote.

Have you tried your local charity shops, Sarah? Many do take furniture if they've got the room AND will pick it up for you."I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

Or what about a church charity? My local one took away a very large but still good quality sofa bed plus a single bed and carpet from my mum's. Saved me the expense of getting rid and I felt it was going to a worthy cause.0

We have donated to SOFA before so we rang them recently when we had a decent sofa bed to give away. The only thing was it had a few marks on it where the kids had spilt stuff and they refused to take it. They said people wouldn't think to put a throw over it.
In the finish I cleaned it up and we put it in the adverts in our supermarket and someone paid £10 for it and a matching chair. She was very pleased to take it.0 -
You could try your local freecycle group for someone who'd find your wardrobes useful to take them away. Search here http://www.freecycle.org/display.php?region=International to see if you have a local group. The idea is that no money changes hands - it's just another way of recycling.0
