It's great that you are taking the fight up with Trading Standards. The more complaints the better.

Please do not feel you have to do a one point POPLA appeal should it get that far just because we think it is such a good piece of evidence. We do get excited by such glaring errors from the PPCs. But we also get that you just want the charge cancelled and to get on with daily life, so a full appeal may well be better for you.

My husband has spoken to the retailer this morning who took the details and have told him that they have cancelled it. He is just awaiting confirmation of this.
While I would have been quite happy to appeal it, for an easy life I'm just as happy to have it cancelled too :)

I have also contacted Parking Prankster to see if he still wants the details.

That's good news. However be prepared to appeal if official notification of cancellation doesn't come through before appeal window closes.

You need that proof of cancellation.

Can you still contact prankster about this though, not knowing what a front and back of motorbike looks like is a fundamental flaw in their rigorous and ethical checks on compliance by parking eye on this scam, sorry I meant parking management ;)

    Emailed him earlier today :)
At best this is incompetence (but I suspect that's being over generous)

Husband spoke to the retailer (a large motorcycle showroom/accessories store) again today, apparently they have requested cancellations for 'about ten of these the same' this week - they're not happy with ParkingEye either, having been assured that motorcycles would not be affected.

Then they should be seriously considering their contract with P.E. How much custom are they going to lose over this?

I don't know the area obviously, so if its just one retailer then logic dictates that a majority of people coming there would be motorcyclists on their bikes, so parking eye to make money there would have to do some creative camera work to make money there.

Perhaps the next thing they will say that the bikes came in backwards ? Or if they done things properly to catch the back end of the vehicles / bikes so they got the images of that, I mean any survey should have picked that up?

To be fair, the car park is shared with a gym/sports store and all the signage refers to the gym/sports store so I think it may be them who have the contract. There is only one or two rows of parking which runs along the front of the motorcycle store and is designated as parking for the motorcycle store. The signs are not displayed along that side, but all vehicles have to use the one entry/exit where the cameras are.
They are a well known, popular and respected motorcycle store in this area and are often used as a meeting place for local bikers to meet up. They certainly will not want to have their reputation trashed by these ParkingEye incompetents. In fact they (the retailer) told my husband that they have even refunded a couple of customers who have paid up after receiving one of these notices.
The lady my husband spoke to said that the owner will "go ballistic" if he hears of another incident.
