HELP
aol silver keeps disconnecting me. I thought that wasn't supposed to happen with BB.
I've followed the repai instructins, and reinstalled eveything, but it's still happening.
Does anyone know what to do?
Not change ISP though, cos despite you computer wizards, we thickos like AOL. But not at the mo.

I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Tell us about the 'drops'
Do they happen very randomly or certain times or doing certain tasks on the p.c
Pick up your phone and dial 1 so it gives you a silent line. Do you hear anything else? Any crackles? Any pops?
Do you use any telephone line extensions? If so try it without it in, these can pick up loads of 'noise' causing disconnections.
Do you have ADSL filters? Are they ok?0 -
Same with me, I've got AOL Platinum and it keeps disconnecting itself after about 3 hours and will not reconnect until it do a reboot:mad: Which is frustrating when I want to remote desktop from work into my home pc.
I have ADSL filters and a extension cable and have no problems with the phone.0 -
Yep same thing happens with me. I use a bt voyager modem and easiest solution I find is to do this. When this happens you may probably notice that the little green arrows in the system tray are a red colour i.e no dsl signal present. Simply dissconect the blue cable from back of voyager modem then reconnect again and Windows will automatically reinstall the software again without rebooting, takes only about 15 seconds. The green arrows will go through a phase turning yellow called training before then reverting to their normal green colour again. Then just dial as normal, works for me every time.0

seems to be random, annoyingly if I've just typed something lengthy on here LOL, before I can post it.
Phone line does sometimes crackle, and always has, but has never caused probs before, not even on dial up.
Assume ADSL's are ok, as BB checker says system is fine.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

If you get disconnected often, use CiDial:
"CiDial will automatically redial one of your Dial-Up Networking connections until your computer is connected to the Internet then monitor the connection and automatically reconnect if the connection is broken."
I have uploaded an older FREE version of the programme here for those who want it. The new version on the official website is no longer free. I am using it for my ADSL and it is just great!
