  • Well done on landing yourself a job in a Bank.

I would assume you have a basic level of intelligence.

But anyway, read your contract, it will state along the lines that your offer of employment is SUBJECT to passing background checks.....credit, criminal etc.

If not passed, you fail and the offer is WITHDRAWN.

It's not difficult to open a Bank account unless you are CCJ's/Bankruptcy or fraud markers.

    Good luck squire!

Having worked in banks for many years, I can confirm that the sort of things they'll be interested in is criminal history ( fraud, money laundering etc. ) and evidence of severe financial mismanagement such as CCJs etc. In the absence of anything untoward you'll be fine. I must admit it's a *little* unusual to insist that you open an account with them, but be that as it may, there's nothing to be worried about. The key point about the account being, as has been pointed out previously, they're not extending you any form of credit ( e.g. overdraft facilities ) so it's not as though you're posing any risk to them from that point of view.
  • Thank you :) this was helpful. Thankfully I am not criminal mastermind so Im sure Ill be okay on that part. My contract just stated I must have an account with them as this is where they will pay my wages, I reckon its mostly because they're a new bank here in the UK (only been around for 4 years) but I don't mind so much since Santander have screwed me over one too many times. Im really just waiting to pay off this over draft then I'm done with them for good.
