Thanks everyone, this is just the sort of feedback I was looking for. I don't really want to spend much more than £2500 I have seen a lot of cars for this sort of money.
Until recently I had a Honda Civic as a second car and it was comfortable, easy to drive and incredibly reliable. I might have a look at one of those again along with your suggestions.0 -
Downside with a £2500 smart is finding someone who will touch it with anything shorter than a barge pole if it goes wrong.0

Just found a Kia Picanto 2004 with <30000 miles for about £1100. Sounds ideal, does seem cheap, does this sound about right?0

Might be good. All depends on general condition, have you got a link to the advert so we can have a look?
Picanto of that period are a bit unrefined but no major issues with them as far as I know.
I have an IQ (1L manual) as a second car and I love it. You can find early 09 models for about £3k if you search the market.0
