spending money in north cyprus

we are shortly going on holiday for 9 days to north cyprus.I beleive they have the turkish lira but many info sites state they also take english money and euro.So...can anyone recommend what to take please?I am allowing £100 spending money per day for a family.Didnt know if best to get a mixture of currencies or to just take £500 in lira and then use cards for the rest.Any advice welcome

    Most shopkeepers will take GB£ and €uro, BUT you'll always get better value by using TL.

    And in any case even if you pay in GB£ or €uro, you'll get any change in TL.

    If you change your GB£ before you go you'll get an inferior rate of exchange. But if you think you'll need some TL to get you from the airport then just change £50 before you go.

    There's ATMs, make sure you tell your bank that you're going to the TRNC, and that you know what the charges are for using a card.

    Or there's also loaded cash cards, but can't comment which is best.

    You get a better exchange rate here , (3.5 = £1 today ) , bring a small amount of TL and remainder in Sterling cash (No Scottish notes though).

    Not better than using a fee free or low fee card.

    Current rate: 3.634974 TL to the £.
