In addition to the big tomatoes I grew this year, I also decided to grow what for me is a novelty green bean, good job I did something of interest as my normal dwarf frenchies have failed so far and I'm on the 3 attempt.
I planted a variety called "Yardlong", it's a kind of chinese french bean, more an ornamental variety and does best indoors.
Not happy,
;), the 1st 1 off is only 33" long

Should have photographed it before I cut it
By the way, that's the way I grow tomatoes, on 11" pots on wet gravel, makes it much easier to keep control of the watering.

I grew these yardlong beans last year. This year I am also trying Mosaic yardlong beans and Chinese Red noodle beans (similar but red). The mosaic beans are producing well but are green, the green ones are now in flower but have only small beans so far and the red ones haven't started flowering yet. I live in hope.0

How did you do last year??
Mine's a similar story of disappointment, I planted my normal early dwarfs too close to the 'tatoe's they got over grown.
Next lot for some reason refused to climb they are now about 2ft round wsith a mix of new and old beans, unusable.
I have tried again, all seems well but what the weather does now will be critical;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
