Fast track security Manchester airport

Morning, was wondering if anyone has done the fast track security at Manchester and is it worth it (does it save time?) its only £3.50 each....but not sure what is involved.

Thanks :)

Used it once. There were no queues anyway so money wasted.

Somebody posted on here the other day that it didn't seem very fast!

So it depends on pot luck on the day!

Oh, and if a flight departure is getting close they call you up the queue anyway!
  • I use it when travelling with work from T1, as above it can be very hit and miss. It depends what time you're flying - if there are loads of holiday flights leaving around the same time, expect security to be busy and so it can be worth it. If there are few departures, probably not.

I suppose it's like "Speedy Boarding" - the more people who pay to use the premium service, the slower it becomes. If it's quiet then you don't need it and if it's busy then it doesn't make much difference.

i have used fast track the last few holidays we have taken we were flying premium so was free of charge, we went through T2 around 7.30am, avoided the long queues .
depending on flight times i would pay to use it

Cant explicitly say with Manchester as I've only flown twice from there but in general its a bit of a gamble... 95% of time, in my experience, security really doesnt take that long anyway and so you may be saving 5-10 minutes if that. Very occasionally it is very busy and you can save more but if check in is busy then fast track also tends to be busy and so whilst you do save time its not as if you walk straight through.

The only fast track I've found to work flawlessly is the likes of Virgin Atlantic's upper class drive through check in where you check in from in the car, they take your bags and you then drive to the security which I've never seen a single person queuing at and you appear right next to the lounge once you get through.

You have to be flying upper class to use it with VS but you can use it with ordinary taxis and dont have to use their expensive chauffeur service if you've bought a cut price ticket

We used it two weeks ago,we flew at 8am on a thurs morning from T2. I was really glad we had as it saved us quite a bit of time!

Queues at security in T2 were horrendous, with people queuing right out of the normal security area into the corridor area. The only issue that really annoyed me was that when we went to the security area, there was a bit of a jobsworth stood by the queue directing people. Despite showing him our fast track security confirmation he still made us, and others who had purchased it, to queue to get into the main security area where we could then enter the fast track lane!!

Still I reckon it saved us around 20 mins of queues so money well spent for us.
    Lea

Daughters flight was 7.00am from Manchester airport terminal 2 this morning, and she decided to pay for fast track, there's not loads of slots available. only a few every 5 mins.

She messaged me this morning, and said she was glad she had booked it, as the que was massive.

My sister also flew at 7.30am yesterday morning from terminal 1 and she left it too late to book fast track all the slots had gone, she messaged me and said she so wish she had done it. They qued over 1 and 3/4 hour to get through.

last week a friend of mine put on f/b best £10 ever spent on fastrack at man airport the other morning.
My mother in law flew to Germany last week, early morning not sure which terminal and she also qued for ages.
yet my father in law flew later in the afternoon and he said he sailed through no problem.

the problem seems to be early morning flights, and from reading other forums, the security staff are employed by agencies on minimum wages, and on a daily basis they ring in sick. Which doesn't help.

And my sister said she hopes nobody gets the girls on security she did, as she had massive long false fingernails and couldn't do anytning with her hands......lol

so it's really up to you, me personally on a early morning flight then I would pay it. But for my next afternoon flight i'll just take the chance.

Thank you for all that advice. We fly at 2.25pm but would check in about 10.30 (I like to be early) suppose its only £10 for the 3 of us so could be worth doing just incase.
