Emerging market / small cap fund/tracker recommendations

I ended up putting £500 into Lazard Emerging Markets a few weeks ago; it's been doing pretty well since.
I've been watching JPM India for a while now and in this time it's been doing well (so I've probably missed the returns already I guess) - still tempted to put some money into that. Although what I should do is buy some more Vanguard/established market products before going into exotic areas in order to moderate the risk level. Whether I do or not...
Another thing I need to investigate is re-balancing my portfolio...maybe I don't need to do it just yet although I will in time.
And I'm also thinking about switching funds from a FTSE 250 tracker to Royal London UK Mid-Cap Growth Fund as it seems to be a better performance investment in the same sort of area.0 -
Considering you seem to be doing (in/out) transactions quite a lot you might want to look at exchange traded funds (ETFs) which are pretty much what it says on the tin - passive basket funds that trade on an exchange in exactly the same manner as individual company stocks do.
The advantage is you can get in and out at low costs (depending on your brokerage charge - if you are trading in pieces less than 1000 GBP it might not come cheaper) and the charges are pretty low as well.0 -
Just keep charges to a minimum mate, bowlheads post is great0

I think it is a good idea to invest in a smaller UK companies or emerging markets fund. I have both and they have significantly outperformed my other funds. I have a Marlborough smaller companies fund and First State Emerging Markets, the latter has soft closed now so would be an expensive option for you. If I were to put more in Emerging Markets, I would choose Lazard.0
