No sound from son's laptop

I've been sorting out sons laptop by wiping lots of malware/freebie programmes and toolbars off.
Unfortunately, I've also wiped off the sound driver. :-(
I've tried to re-install but get error messages. Tried to download off internet but no joy.
I think it is IDT High Definition audio CODEC.
Can anyone help, please?

What brand is it? Most IT Vendors offer downloadable drivers on their websites...0

Dell make it easy for you. Flip your laptop upside down, youll see a barcode or a sticker saying service tag its an alphanumeric number like 1A2B3C4.
Keep hold of this or goto dells website uk then go to the support link on the page you can search by service tag or by model. Find the audio driver and install it.
