I have spent 7 hours trawling the internet for a place to stay in december to match my cheap flight. despite hotels costing several hundred pounds for 4 nights, they are usually threadbare or dirty.
For a laugh i thought i would check out b&b's, and i was amazed to discover what was on offer quality and price wise

As in any city there are alternatives to hotels.
With these B&B's just be aware of the cancellation policy (14 days before arrival )and how do you pay the deposit- I couldn't see an on-line entry?
Both these points are not insurmountable, but some DIY holidaymakers can be caught out.
As always I advocate using either Priceline or Hotwire to book hotels if these opaque providers suit your purpose.
Also look at nearby areas such as New Jersey and even Secaucus.0 -
I went last year in october and stayed in an apartment, it was great and a 2 min walk from central park.
I would reccommend checking these out too.

Some may be, but not all.
Manhattan accommodation just isn't cheap, one of those facts of travel like they serve chips in Benidorm, to get better value for money go when demand is lower.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
We've got a great deal on a 4 bedroom apartment (for 6 of us) in November. Its worked out at just over £350 each inclusive of flights and accomodation.

I can thoroughly recommend the Grand Hyatt hotel next to Grand Central Station in NYC as a very nice hotel. It's well kept, modern and reasonably priced for such a nice hotel in the location it's in.
We stayed there New Year 05/06 and it was fantastic.
Do a google search for Grand Hyatt New York.0 -

I went to NYC last year and spent ages looking for a cheap hotel as was staying 5 nights! In the end I booked a Holiday Inn in New Jersey. Is is only a short bus ride away and was £500 cheaper than booking a Holiday Inn in central NYC. Madness.0
