so you want a job but you dont want to look for one, on the weekends? employers are going to love you

People in work don't (normally) work seven days a week.
Many employers wouldn't want their staff to work seven days a week, because they know it is counter-productive. The staff would be too knackered to do their jobs properly.
Why should someone have to look for work seven days a week,, if they don't want to?
Properly looking for work is tougher mentally than many jobs.

You actually have to be looking for work 37 hours a week, or more (under the terms of JSA). Unless you have caring duties or some other exclusions, in which case it is less than 37 hours a week.

Can't see it makes a blind bit of difference as to how you spread your jobsearch hours out. If you don't want to search for work during a weekend, then you shouldn't have to if you spend enough time in the week looking.

Of course, you shouldn't have agreed to a jobseekers agreement that said you should look for work every day of the week if you didn't want to do this. However, that is easier said than done as the advisers don't give you any time to read the agreement before they get you to sign it.

Anyway, just don't tick the box that gives advisers access to your Universal Jobsearch account. They won't then know when you are searching for work.

You need to be actively job hunting at the weekend, you also need to be available to attend interview, a bit difficult if you are going away. If you don't like the terms of your JSA you could stop claiming it, as after all you are able to afford a weekend away.

Have you ever heard of savings?

You do know that people are allowed a quite substantial amount of savings whilst claiming JSA?
  • If the poster spent as much time job seeking as does whining about it would have a job by now and not be leeching off the hard working strivers in this country.

Well you "have no say" in paying for my bus pass or winter fuel allowance either, and the OP needs his JSA much more than I need my bus pass or fuel allowance. Oh of course, I forgot, I am a deserving senior citizen (who votes) and not one of those horrible scrounging unemployed people. We all know that anyone who is unemployed is !!!!less and useless because the great god Dacre and Bullingdon boy Osborne tell us so. Sheesh. At least I can do my bit for redistribution by giving my winter fuel allowance to my local Big Issue sellers.
But you are not whinging about what you have to do to get your free travel and fuel allowance. That is the point.

He may be entitled, but the cash is still being taken from others who have no say in the matter.

Wait until you need to claim JSA. I'll see if your attitude is the same then.

Of course, you could make this easier on yourself .... look for jobs Mon-Fri and "save some back", just save the links ..... then, quickly, on a Sat-Sun, go to those links and apply for those jobs that you identified/found on Mon-Fri.

Evidence provided, effort put in. Box ticked. Job done.

So why the tone of your earlier posts?

Er, that is because he doesn't have to do anything to claim it (apart from to make a one-off application).

    Daily Mail, Cameron propaganda alert!

As if all people in paid work work hard.
Many people claiming JSA do work - they do voluntary work. Work that is unpaid and often benefits society as a whole.

Some paid work does not benefit society - eg: cold-calling and trying to sell compensation packages.
  • at least those people cold calling are paying taxes to this country and not laying in bed all day, claiming and whining whilst watching their sky tv no doubt, playing on their new consoles and living the life of riley at the tax payers expense.

Did you just read my post?
Voluntary work - who do you think does that, in many cases?

There is virtually nothing worthwhile in doing cold-calling work. Unless you get a kick out of annoying people.

Unemployed people pay tax every time they do their grocery shopping.
Everyone living in the UK pays tax, not just people in work.
