Jsa paid to cover weekends?

I think people are just confused a bit by what you wrote, are you saying the JC are saying if you don't provide proof of looking for jobs everyday including weekends they will sanction you? Or are you saying they want you to apply for weekend jobs as well and you don't want to for some reason?[STRIKE]Original Mortgage 07/07 £160000 LTV 100% [/STRIKE]Remortgaged 10/13 £118000 LTV 84%

I don't get it. Surely your agreement is that you have to do x number of activity per week, surely it doesn't stipulate whether this is out of 5 or 7 days? Or are you saying that your agreement stipulate that you have to do x number of search per day, and they will come and knock on your door to check that you are home doing some searching on Sunday afternoon?0

You need to be actively job hunting at the weekend, you also need to be available to attend interview, a bit difficult if you are going away. If you don't like the terms of your JSA you could stop claiming it, as after all you are able to afford a weekend away.0

OK, the JC are now telling people that they have to also look for work (perform job search activities) at weekends (whether I want to work weekends is not relevant). My concern is that if JSA is not paid to cover weekends then this demand is unreasonable and unfair. I've no doubt that Housing and Council Tax benefit would have to cover weekends, but didn't know about JSA, as I do remember years ago hearing that the equivalent unemployment benefit back then did not cover weekends.I think people are just confused a bit by what you wrote, are you saying the JC are saying if you don't provide proof of looking for jobs everyday including weekends they will sanction you? Are you serious? I'm unemployed and therefore have no right to go away for a weekend and spend tax payer's money? Furthermore, job interviews at weekends? Very rare. And what, stop claiming JSA? And what, live on my savings? Win the lottery? Get a job? As I said previously to another post - thanks, never thought of that. I'm not going away for any weekends because I can't afford it - I used that as an example to illustrate a point. But thank you and apologies for dragging you away from your Daily Mail. You need to be actively job hunting at the weekend, you also need to be available to attend interview, a bit difficult if you are going away. A lot of you don't seem to understand what's going on in the world. And of course if I was working again, I wouldn't really have much awareness of the victimization of unemployed people either. But let me give you an example. A few months ago, as I was waiting to sign on (for over an hour), a young lad was being signed on not far away from me. He told the 'advisor' that he had been away for the weekend and so wasn't able to do any job search. The 'advisor' then gave him a booklet to complete with details of where he had been, who he had been with, names, addresses, phone numbers, how he knew them, and details of what he had been doing and why. Oh, and he also got sanctioned.
So yes, 'fascists' is apt, and 'victimization' is apt.
You know, I came on here with a civilized question and friendly intentions, but all I'm having to do is defend myself against people who haven't got a clue and get their opinions and information about unemployed people from watching programs like Benefits Street.

When I was on JSA I spent everyday looking for a job and making myself more attractive to employers by doing things such as volunteering, I didn't sit and moan on an Internet forum that I had to actually do something to spend other peoples money.0 -
Cool story.
My previous employer is so desperate for staff they have started to hold interviews at weekends. They are too busy during the week doing their regular jobs, and weekends often work better for the interviewee too.
So yeah, it's rare to have an interview on a weekend but not unheard of particularly if you would be expected to work weekends in the job.
You seem to be missing the point somewhat. Job seeker's allowance is paid to job seekers. As in, those who are looking for jobs. So it is paid on the condition that the person is actively looking for work in exchange for the cash. If someone has gone on holiday to Spain, it is assumed that they did not actively look for work during that period, so they are not given JSA.0
