If there are any immediate issues that need to be known on the day your child starts, a short letter to the class teacher can be useful. My son has multiple conditions, and some of the problems are more relevant to the class teacher and TA than the SENCO. I write a bullet point list to inform the teacher of any immediate issues - in my son's case, last year's list included brief details of his severe feeding problems and his double incontinence, as these would need to be dealt with from the start. The list also serves as a useful reminder to the teachers and TAs in the early days as they get to know him.
If the information is not immediately necessary, arrange an appointment within the first week or two.0 -
Have you had a copy of the paediatricians letter and was the school senco copied onto it? If so a short note requesting that this is shared with the class teacher and requesting an urgent meeting regarding it's contents is the way forward.0
