Mature student non-Uni funding question

I have a bit of an odd situation for my partner, and finding information is... difficult... with so many schemes, providers and everything.
Basically, she wants to do a Masters for her (future) professional career, but has been out of education for a long time. So to kick off, she'd like to do a year-long course in a more basic subject (same area) to get her hand in, and also for her English skills (since she's not British). The course is from an organisation that issues recognised certificates (I checked, though I don't remember exactly where).
The "Level 4" course costs a few hundred quid (450-650 depending on where and who) and is distance learning, part time.
Since we're poor, we can't afford to stump up the cash for it in one go, so I've been looking for student loans, grants, bursaries or other stuff. But they're ALL targeted at Uni courses, which this isn't.
Are there are funds or loans available for this kind of situation, that would enable her to get back on track? I can't find any info, the local job centre is as much use as a cardboard toaster, and it's all very confusing.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated!

If you're unable to afford a few hundred pounds for this course how are you going to pay the several thousand pounds that a Masters will cost? Unless it's in one of a very limited number of areas the chances of getting any funding are very small.0

The course may be covered by student finance for tuition fee loans. You would need to contact the provider to confirm if they are elligible, or call student loans company with the details of the course provider to see if your wife would be able to claim the loans.
As agrinnall has said, though, if you can't afford £450 - £650 for the level 4 course you are going to find it near impossible to fund the masters, as they are not funded by SLC and cost thousands of pounds.
Have you checked to see if it is possible to do a full honours degree that has a masters integrated into it?0 -
You need to register with student finance EnglandShe could get grants and funding.0
