Bank account for club, with payments in portal?

I'm a treasurer of a private road committee.
We have a club/charities/societies bank account.
Residents pay a subscription once a year.
People are gradually refusing to pay by cheque.

I would like to allow them all to pay electronically. However, I'm afraid I will end up with 60 unidentifiable payments. I need to know which house number each comes from. I'm not sure I can trust everyone to enter the right thing on the payment reference.

In my dreams, there is a club bank account available that has a portal for payments in, where the payee can be forced to select from a list of allowable payment references (I would configure this list to contain house numbers).

Am I living in cloud cuckoo land? Is there anything like this? Has anyone else got around this issue by other means?

If they managed to write their house number on the back of the cheque, why shouldn't they be able to fill in a payment reference?Presumably they don't all have the same name, so can't you tell from the name in the incoming transaction description who the payment is from? And tell them off if they send you payments without reference? How do you currently handle cheques from people who forgot to write their address on the back?

With regards to your idea of a dropdown with allowable payment options - yes, I do think you live in cloud cuckoo land.
