Distance selling regs-hotel booking

Made a hotel booking for Ocober through booking.com two days ago. I chose the 'no cancellation' 'paid upfront' price as it was a third less than the price which allowed cancellation and later payment.

Just spoken to the hotel direct and they offered me the same room 200euros cheaper with only a small deposit payable now.

Can I get out of the contract with booking.com or by choosing the 'no cancellation' option have I given up any rights under the distance selling regs.?

Need to learn to do your research before you buy the next time.

You have no right to cancel (except for any rights you may have in your contract)

DSR was replaced earlier this year http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/distance-selling-regulations?gclid=CKbJuZrJ-b8CFeSWtAodggkAqg

Holiday booking was excluded under the DSR and remains excluded under the new regulations

Do booking.com offer a price guarantee? did you get the new quote from the hotel in writing? If so try and claim the difference back from booking.com, depending on the terms of their contract

booking.com do not actually take the money, the hotel do (even on prepay rates)

I presume the hotel have offered you a discount to book direct, as it saves paying them the 15% commission due to booking.com

If that is the case, then speak to the hotel, explain you want to go with them and you will cancel with booking.com. The latter will need the hotel to authorise a "free" cancellation with the hotel, but it happens (daily)

Legally, no comeback of course. Other than the booking.com price guarantee, so better for the hotel if you can take the former route.
