Looking to open Halifax current account

Hi Guys,
Just recently used the switch service from barclays to First direct all gone smoothly so far.
Was curious about opening a halifax account for the fiver a month + 100 bonus, but don't have any other bank accounts to use the switch service, would it possible to open any old bank account and use the switch service straight away?
Would prefer to use Halifax as my main money account to transfer my wages in monthly from First direct as the balance on first direct does not update straight away and seems to take a couple of days never know where I am up to !
Lovely hopefully not overly complicated first post !

In a word, yes! There are various threads on here with people doing exactly that, search for terms like 'donor' or 'sacrificial'....0 -
