Premier Inn refunded non refunable room costs

My parents and I were planning to go to stay o/n at a Premier Inn in Warrington area last week. It was booked back in March. Unfortunately, my mother broke her hip during the last weekend of May. She is not fully mobile to go do what we were planning.

Dad bought 2 rooms for £29 on the non refund deal. As we knew we weren't going, Dad phoned PI up saying that we cannot go for Mum's mobility so they can have our two rooms freed up.

My Dad received his credit card statement and says refund PI £58.

That is very good service, I would have expected them to say no and be telling you that you should have had insurance.

Ive never had a problem with refunds with them, its part of their appeal.

I wonder if the rooms were readvertised at the full rate and used by someone else therefore they made more anyway lol.

I remember staying in Edinburgh during the festival a few years back and everywhere was booked up apart from 1 place which was £70 for a room and treating myself I took it and the person admitted to me the person canceleld on the day and been charged for it.
